Laundry is one of those mundane chores we all have to do. But did you know the impact it’s having on our environment? It can use up to 13,500 gallons of water a year for the average household. Plus washing and machine drying a 5kg load of laundry every 2 weeks creates nearly 440kg of carbon dioxide emissions per year. Scented detergents and dryer sheets contain hazardous chemicals which affect the planet and you.
Here’s some tips for helping the environment while doing your laundry:
> Wear your clothes more than once before washing.
> Use natural detergent
> Get an air purifier
> Hang clothes out instead of using the dryer
> Do a cold water wash
> Use a front not top loader washing machine
