The holidays are great times but can also become a stressful time of the year. The extra shopping, traveling, cooking, hosting, and visiting can be tiring while balancing your usual responsibilities. Also,? “You can pick your friends, can’t pick your family” is a well known quote for a reason. So let’s admit the holidays can be stressful.
So how do you get through the holidays without gaining your weight back?

Here Are My Suggestions
Check Your Mood
Do you eat when your stressed? or when you have a few drinks? Be sure to plan in your head where you can make a different decision. Why wake up the next morning with a hangover and your 5lbs back?
Just a taste
You can treat yourself during the holidays, but be smart about it, why give back any weight you’ve lost for one day? Take a forkful or a much smaller piece of your favorites dessert or pasta dish instead of a plateful.
Plan for the day
You may have to bring your family’s favorite dish to the holiday table. This doesn’t mean you can’t bring a second dish that is yummy and a healthier food choice limiting or reducing flour, sugar or processed food. You could make the recipe with half the flour, carbs or sugar.
Cut your drinks
Of course you can have your favorite holiday drink, but if you can cut it with seltzer and cut your sugar intake why not?
Rid Yourself of Leftovers
Many will wake up the next day still full and bloated, with either a frig full of leftovers or sent home with some of your favorites. Now the dilemma “do you eat it or get back on your healthy path? ” I will continue to take a taste of my favorite dishes for a day or two, then either toss it or give it away.
