My 30 Day Challenge of a Plant-Based Diet: Goals & Results
Like anything it is easier to be successful when you have a partner or others joining you. I was lucky to have a few interested in doing this 30 day challenge with me. My husband, friends, new members on Facebook and clients joined in.
So here was my goals:
My goal was to eat a plant-based diet and NOT supplement vegan processed food. I stayed away from wheat 100%. When I was a vegetarian in college, My diet included bagels, mac & cheese, and Ramen noodles. But I?ve learned a lot about food since then.?
My goal was to stay away from GMO ingredients and eat as organic as I could. With weekly shipments of organic veggies and fruit from the Misfits market, Other than eating out I would say we were close to 95% organic and GMO free.?
My goal was to be 100% animal byproducts free for 30 days. What I found was a cut my grocery bills in more than half, eating a plant-based diet. This was a challenge for my husband and I, And my kids eat animal byproducts. But we still cut our grocery bills in more then half.
My goal is to eat the least amount of processed food reading labels even more carefully and any more protein through grains beans and nuts.

Here are the Results
Weight:I lost 8 pounds and leaned up, looking to gain eating more times in the day. My husband lost 9 pounds in 30 days, added stretching and getting up at 3:00 am with me. A friend lost 4 pounds, which is amazing since she?s near goal weight.?
Clarity: Each of us within the first two weeks noticed more clarity in the mind and energy in the body. A sense of a clear head, and more productive through the day.
Less pain:Before this month 2 slices of sausage pizza from my favorite place was my treat. But the last 30 days I?ve noticed a drastic difference of inflammation in my body. Each of us have a better sense of the food we eat and how it affects our body.
Night sweats: this one?s hard for me to admit that I have to share. Up to this past month I believe I began my changes, For months I wake up in a sweat. This past month NOT once! That?s a huge change. Hormones in the meat? IDK just listening to my body.?
A Healthy Lifestyle Versus a Diet
Any healthy lifestyle is about balance and making changes you can stick with. Like packing a snowball and pushing it in the snow to make it bigger only to watch you can?t speed and go downhill growing in strength and power.?So today I had my treat, two slices of sausage pizza then frozen yogurt… and gearing back up to another 30 day challenge of plant based eating and adding eggs this time.
