Research What You Eat
It is very important as we find alternatives to bread, sugar and processed food to look at labels of all the packaged food you eat. The ingredients are there to make you an educated consumer. Have you ever researched what you are actually eating? Start Today!?When I started my healthier lifestyle I googled every food I put in my mouth just to understand what I was eating and I learned I had an educated choice to make.
A friend asked if I ate oat meal as one of my food choices. I replied, “I did please send me the ingredients.” After she did I realized not all oatmeal is created equal. Here is why…… #gallery-2 { margin: auto; } #gallery-2 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-2 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-2 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
All Food Is Not Created Equal
Below are just some “ingredients” from highly processed oatmeal
calcuim carbonate -?is the active ingredient in agricultural lime and is created when?calcium?ions in hard water react with?carbonate?ions to create limescale. It is medicinally used as a?calcium?supplement or as an antacid, but excessive consumption can be hazardous.
guar gum– also called?guaran, is a?galactomannan?polysaccharide?extracted from?guar beans?that has thickening and stabilizing properties useful in the food, feed and industrial applications. The guar seeds are mechanically dehusked, hydrated, milled and screened according to application.[1]?It is typically produced as a free-flowing, off-white powder.
sucralose– ?is a zero-calorie artificial sweetener, and Splenda is the most common?sucralose-based product.?Sucralose?is made from sugar in a multi-step chemical process in which 3 hydrogen-oxygen groups are replaced with chlorine atoms.
My Rule: If I cant pronounce it I wont eat it.
The way I see it is I vote with my wallet and my health, I get to be an educated consumer that chooses the healthier choice and not food that is made in a lab. If food is fuel we need to put the best quality in to get the best quality of life. I never asked for chemicals to be included.?Even if the organic is a bit more in cost, I will purchase it and here is why? I am either going to buy the cheaper product and pay with my health or pay a bit more and feel better.
