my goal is to blog everyday... before reading or listening to these 5 books I didn't have goals, didn't understand the compound effect of making small changes daily, didn't understand I needed to work on me
Nearing 48 years old I think back now and wonder what if...? We could all have regrets but why waste the energy, its best to learn from them and push forward.
My journey has taken me down a path of losing 50lbs, battling anxiety & depression, an eating disorder in college, dependence on cigarettes' and alcohol. There was a house fire due to my cigarette that landed us in a hotel for a few months and this past year a divorce driven by money issues and not working on us.
I was recently asked for a suggested book list from an amazing creative writing teacher who teaches juniors and seniors in high school...
Soooo.... it made me wonder: What 5 books would have changed my life if I read them in high school and why?
Here goes
1. 15 Secrets Successful People Know About Time Management by Kevin Kruse
This book is about 15 specific traits that successful people have. I figured if I even picked up a few I’d be in a better place. This book started it all... probably listened to this 30+ times and always working on these traits
The idea of the smallest changes make big results. This book made sense of why we have good & bad habits and how making changes to our environment, mindset and "doing the reps" till good habits are routine. 1% better with a compound effect. This book made sense of my journey of eliminating smoking and drinking out of my life. I always suggest this book to stop unhelpful habits.
If you could design your day to be super productive and have a better day by waking up early and spending an hour working on you. After reading testimonial of his follower and their success I had to try it.... Life SAVERS 10 mins for each: S (silence/meditation) A (affirmations) V (visualization) E(exercise) R(reading) S (script/journal)
Thankful I found this book years ago, wish it was there in my 20's but never to late. Signing up for my first credit card on my college campus and living the American dream of student debt, consumption by credit, working to pay mortgage and interest payments and no savings... oh and what's a budget???? This book has taken me down a path of financial freedom with a goal to teach MY children what I didn't know at their age.
So if atomic habits is the idea of 1% better each day to create big change.... What IF you intentionally pushed it to a 10X level.... very intriguing to me and have been the book I go to to charge myself back up and keep pushing forward with a new speed.
